The LIFE MySOIL project took part in the 10th National Symposium on Control of Soil Degradation and Recovery (CONDEGRES 2024), held between June 24th-27th at the facilities of the University of Burgos (Spain).
On June 26th, Jorge Diamantino from KEPLER delivered the presentation “Mycoremediation using real-scale biopiles of soils contaminated by total petroleum hydrocarbons”. This talk was included within the session “Contaminated soils”, moderated by Rocío Millán from CIEMAT and Diego Soto from the University of Vigo.
Moreover, on June 25th, Rafael Antón from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid hosted the lecture “Preliminary designs of utility models for conducting mycoremediation studies of soils contaminated by total petroleum hydrocarbons”. In this case, the presentation was part of the session “Contaminated soils”, moderated by Blanca Velasco from the University of Burgos and José Luis Rodríguez from the University of Oviedo.
Both presentations gave an overview of the LIFE MySOIL project and specially focused on the Spanish demonstration site, its evolution and most recent outcomes.
The CONDEGRES 2024 symposium focused on issues associated with soil degradation, with emphasis on Mediterranean environments and the proposal of solutions to reverse these situations. During the event, participants delved into various thematic areas: from bioremediation technologies, the effect of environmental changes on agricultural, forestry and urban soils, to the anthropogenic impact on paleosols.
