CALL FOR ABSTRACTS

SPECIAL SESSION ON MYCOREMEDIATION

WITHIN REMTECH EXPO EUROPE 2024

The LIFE MySOIL project invites you to submit an abstract in the occasion of a special session on mycoremediation, as part of the RemTech Europe conference and exhibition.

The session will bring together researchers, practitioners and policymakers to discuss the latest advances on mycoremediation. This will include laboratory and on-field applications of soil bioremediation for the most part, but other implementation opportunities will also be considered. The session will contain both presentations from the European project LIFE MySOIL and others selected from submitted abstracts.

The session will take place in-person on Thursday, 19th of September 2024, from 9:00 to 13:30 in Ferrara during RemTech Europe 2024.

Mycoremediation is a type of bioremediation that uses fungal inocula to degrade (or accumulate) pollutants. The advantage of mycoremediation is that it retains the benefits of bioremediation treatments, including low economic, social and environmental costs, while achieving high levels of contaminant removal without the counterparts of traditional remediation strategies (e.g. incineration and thermal desorption).

We welcome abstracts on a wide range of topics related to mycoremediation, including but not limited to:

  • Laboratory and scale up of mycoremediation;
  • Mycoremediation in pilot or field scale;
  • Fungal processes that enhance pollutant degradation;
  • Interactions between inoculated fungi and autochthonous microbiome;
  • Production of fungal inocula and soil amendments at field scale;
  • New analytical methods to evaluate mycoremediation.

Abstracts should be centered on the mycoremediation experience with the possibility of a short theoretical introduction to the topic. No commercial activities should be included.

Abstracts should be no longer than 300 words and clearly state the research questions, methods, results and conclusions. We encourage submissions from researchers, practitioners, and policymakers from academia, industry and government agencies.

Submissions will be evaluated based on their originality, significance and relevance to the session’s theme. We look forward to receiving your abstracts and welcoming you to our special session on mycoremediation.

Please submit your proposal by e-mail to contact@lifemysoil.eu not later than 14th of June 2024, using the template below. Authors will be notified of acceptance or dismissal of their paper by e-mail.

About the project

The LIFE MySOIL project develops a competitive and innovative technology to demonstrate the feasibility of mycoremediation to remediate all petroleum-derived organic pollutants from aged industrial contaminated soils.
