LIFE MYSOIL FINAL EVENT

Advancing mycoremediation for sustainable soil decontamination

The LIFE MySOIL project is pleased to invite you to its Final Event, where we will explore the role of mycoremediation as a sustainable and innovative strategy for soil decontamination.

Over the past years, LIFE MySOIL has developed and demonstrated mycoremediation technology through real-world case studies to address soil contamination challenges in an eco-friendly and cost-effective manner.

Throughout this event, we will share key insights from the project, demonstrating the effectiveness of fungal-based bioremediation in restoring oil-contaminated soils. Our panel of experts will present the latest findings on replicability, transferability, and practical guidelines for implementing this approach on a broader scale.

In addition, we will delve into related topics such as circular economy applications, fungal inocula, and monitoring strategies for biodegradation. The event will also feature invited speakers who will share their perspectives on the future of mycoremediation and its integration with existing remediation technologies.

About the project

The LIFE MySOIL project develops a competitive and innovative technology to demonstrate the feasibility of mycoremediation to remediate all petroleum-derived organic pollutants from aged industrial contaminated soils.

Mycoremediation is a type of bioremediation that uses fungal inocula to degrade (or accumulate) pollutants. The advantage of mycoremediation is that it retains the benefits of bioremediation treatments, including low economic, social and environmental costs, while allowing high levels of contaminant removal to be achieved without the counterparts of traditional remediation strategies (e.g. incineration and thermal desorption).
