The LIFE MySOIL project has celebrated a workshop to present full potential of mycoremediation, a type of bioremediation that uses fungal inocula to degrade pollutants.
The workshop, entitled “Mycoremediation, a sustainable strategy for the recovery of oil contaminated soils”, was celebrated online on May 11th, 2023.
During the event, moderated by Jofre Herrero, LIFE MySOIL technical coordinator, the attendees discovered some lessons learnt using this technology, as well as its limitations and future steps for its scale up.
Moreover, the workshop included presentations about the advantages and disadvantages of conventional remediation techniques and how mycoremediation constitutes a step forward in terms of sustainability and efficiency.
