Carlos García Delgado, partner from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, delivered a seminar on mycoremediation of soils contaminated with hydrocarbons, where he presented the LIFE MySOIL project. The seminar was held in the Institute of Natural Resources and Agrobiology of Salamanca (Spain) on November 10th, 2023.
During the seminar, which was also live-streamed, he gave a general overview of the project, introducing the objectives and the three demonstration sites, with the main focus being put on the Spanish location.
He detailed the strategy of the University in selecting the type of fungi for the mycoremediation process, as well as the results of the different biotreatability tests carried out. The mesocosm experiments were also presented.
Within LIFE MySOIL, the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid is in charge of the biotreatability evaluation and fungal inocula production for the Spanish demonstration site.
