[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=““]The LIFE MySOIL project<\/a> celebrated the successful culmination of its journey with its Final Event<\/a><\/strong> held on May 21st<\/sup>, 2025, both online and in-person at the facilities of Eurecat in Manresa (Spain).<\/p>\n

The event brought together experts, researchers, and stakeholders from across Europe to explore the achievements of the project and the promising future of mycoremediation for sustainable soil decontamination<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Over the past four years, LIFE MySOIL has demonstrated the potential of fungal-based technologies to clean up oil-contaminated soils through eco-friendly, cost-effective strategies. This event provided a unique opportunity to share key outcomes, lessons learned, and next steps in advancing mycoremediation as a viable solution for environmental restoration.<\/p>\n

The event began with a welcome and overview by Jofre Herrero<\/strong>, Technical Coordinator of LIFE MySOIL and researcher at Eurecat<\/a>\u2019s Water, Air and Soil Unit. He emphasized the project\u2019s innovative use of fungi in soil decontamination and its broader relevance in addressing global environmental challenges.<\/p>\n

Attendees were then guided through the practical implementation of mycoremediation across France, Italy, and Spain.<\/p>\n

In France<\/strong>, Laurent Thannberger<\/strong>, Scientific Director at VALGO<\/a>, and mycologist Ilaria Chicca<\/strong> from Novobiom<\/a> presented how mycoremediation was applied in their industrial context to regenerate polluted land.[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_single_image image=“8837″ img_size=“large“ alignment=“center“ css=““][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text css=““]In Italy<\/strong>, Alessandro D\u2019Annibale<\/strong>, senior researcher at the University of La Tuscia<\/a>, and Fiora Bagnato<\/strong> from Eni Rewind<\/a> shared their experience bridging scientific innovation and industrial application to treat hydrocarbon-contaminated soil.
